Crosshill Farms is a three building development at Dublin Bay near Wanaka.
The primary purpose of this project was the development of a Virtual Reality model to be used as visual impact evidence for a consent hearing.
All developments in this area of New Zealand are intensely sensitive to the visual impact that they may have on one of the most beautiful environments on the planet. During this project, the K2Vi model that was produced showed that some building re-location needed to be performed in order to really minimise impact. This re-location was able to be performed from within the K2Vi Virtual Reality environment and led to a significant reduction in visual impact while still maintaining magnificent views from within the development.
The ability to perform this kind of interactive design whilst still actually within the Virtual Reality environment is a key feature of the K2Vi software - it is an incredibly powerful tool.
Mr. Paul Cavanagh, QC was the barrister heading this case and his comments were;
"The model was superb and the application of this technology was fundamental to the successful presentation of the case. A key feature was the interactive nature of this model, as opposed to images or movies. This interactivity gave us the flexibility to explore all the issues, as and when they were raised. All in all, when dealing with sensitive landscapes, you need to be using this technology."
