The Orakei Marina project involved the development of a new marina complex in the heart of Auckland's inner city beaches along Tamaki Drive.
An interactive 3D model was developed with K2Vi showing the area before and after development of the proposed marina. Because it is an interactive model, viewers can see views of the proposed new development from any angle. In fact, one of the viewpoints was so specific that it's location was established by survey then viewers could go to that exact location from within K2Vi - a very powerful feature of the software.
In an innovative procedure, the Environment Court suggested that both the developer and the objectors to the development meet prior to the hearing to view the K2Vi model. The purpose of these meetings was for all sides to agree that the model was a true and fair representation of the proposed development before it was shown in court. K2Vi allowed all parties to sit round the table, view the development from every angle and to work together to agree on the construction of the model.
After these meetings, the objectors withdrew and the marina is now under construction.
The developer of this project, Mr Tony Mair, also commissioned the production of a video showing the proposed marina for marketing purposes.
