Parawera Subdivision is a development on the shores of Lake Taupo near Acacia Bay by the Symphony Property group in partnership with the Hiruharama Ponui Maori Trust. The development includes a gated residential community, timeshare apartments, fisherman's cottages, and a boutique hotel.
This development generated intense public scrutiny and the K2Vi model was used in several very large public meetings to demonstrate the developers plans before being used in the resource consent hearing.
The interactive nature of the K2Vi model proved to be very powerful in the public consultation process - everyone had a different viewpoint and, using K2Vi, everyone was able to go to the viewpoint that was important to them.
A feature of this project was that the development looked relatively intrusive when viewed on a paper plan. The 3D model produced in K2Vi however showed that the project had been very well designed to have the absolute minimum visual impact possible.
The decision from the hearing was that the project be allowed to proceed.
The k2Vi model was also used in marketing of this project. A very successful day was held where potential buyers were "flown" around the proposed subdivision. The software was also installed at the development's real estate agency.
