K2Vi V3 supports scripting and 'Immersive Video' hyperlinks.

Scripting allows you to combine viewpoints, flightpaths and scenarios into a timed-based script.

Immersive technology is the new benchmark in visualisation. Using this technology, virtual tours can be readily created from 360 degree imagery. In V3 you can click on a 3D model which has an associated 'Immersive Video'. The video will open up in an external window and will start to play at the same geographic location as the 3D model in V3. When the video is playing, the location of the 3D model in V3 is automatically updated.

Some of the new features in V3 are:

Globe display

K2Vi has gone global. Our new K2Vi Viewer V3 supports the display of GIS and 3D CAD data on a 3D globe. All your current K2Vi projects can be loaded on to the globe and are automatically reprojected to WGS84 world coordinates.

The V3 Viewer supports all functionality that was available in K2Vi Lite such as:
  • themes on/off
  • flight paths
  • viewpoints
  • measure mode
  • animation of objects
In addition, there are 2 new navigation modes called terrain and orbit which allow for easy navigation around the globe.

Globe generation

The new V3 globe is a paged terrain/image database which basically means you can zoom right in to the highest level of detail available for both terrain and draped imagery. The globe is pre-compiled and is loaded as extra parameter in V3 in addition to the K2Vi27 kvp project file.

DIT can provide customised globes at any resolution.

In co-operation with GeographX we supply V3 globes with New Zealand at 20m terrain resolution and 7m image resolution.

In addition we can integrate your  high resolution terrain and imagery in the V3 globe as well.
Future developments

Some of the planned new features are:
  • volumetric, animated clouds
  • (ground) fog
  • character animation
  • enhanced realism
  • automatic generation of GIS/CAD objects in the 3D world based on GIS information
